Summary
The main story of Yemaja follows Lluvia Mar, a girl who stumbled into the Otherworld outside of her own volition. After its power leeches into her and scrambles many of the memories of her life, she is spit from a Tican metro to a Yborran beach miles away.
She then meets Bantam, a fouteen-year old boy coming back from school, who notices her awkwardly sprawled across the sands. Finding her "really weird," he brings her to his older sister, Llin, who is a known Magician. Lams explains what happened to LLin, who connects what she is experiencing to that of Magicians.
The Trinidads are then revealed to be living with their comparatively average mother, Maria, whose ignorance drives Llin up the wall and only fuels the fire of her control issues. Lluvia, who lies at the last second that her name is Lams, is then allowed to stay the night while Llin tries to "bring her back home."
Frustrated over the situation she's been thrust into, Lams begins going through Llin's things to learn more about what the Otherworld is. She accidentally releases its residents through a spontaneous portal, alerting Llin and Bantam. The older two struggle to seal them back into the realm they came from, with Llin's anxieties over what Lams is exactly only increasing. She is forced to lie to her mother over what happened, earning her a scolding and only encouraging her further to get out of the house and investigate.
With no knowledge on her "haunting" Llin brings Lams to her only knowledgable- yet irritating- contact, Helia. The Tican popstar is powerful, yet rarely treats anything with seriousness. Offhandedly, she casually brings up that she's a sentient resident of the Otherworld, a realization that bewilders both Lams and Llin. When she remarks that Lams' condition is extremely unusual, she also mentions that there are others who would vye for the power to manipulate the Otherworld itself...
